| IKON appointed Higher Education Approved Supplier |
 |
London, April 24th 2006 -- IKON Office Solutions (UK), today announced that the company has been awarded
approved supplier status to Higher Education Institutes.
This award is the culmination of a formal OJEC tender process lasting several months, during which IKON
was recognised as a leading provider of document technology and services. As an approved supplier IKON
can now supply all Higher and Further Education organisations, all UK research councils, and public-funded
bodies throughout the UK. Through the HEI National Agreement these organisations can take advantage of a
negotiated discount structure for equipment, finance and services, supported by IKON’s own technical service
operation who guarantee response times and equipment performance.
Phil Keoghan, IKON’s UK President commented “What is most pleasing is that we have approved supplier
status in every aspect of our portfolio of products and services, including Facilities and Fleet Management,
Outsourcing, Managed Services, Professional Services, High Volume, and Business Services. This contract is
a fantastic opportunity for IKON. We already provide managed print rooms and managed fleets of office
equipment to several Universities and Colleges, producing their overflow print requirements remotely at our
digital print centres. It’s a very robust and efficient model, and one which we expect there will be lots of
demand for. Now as an approved supplier, all HEI organisations across the UK will be able to access our
products and services through a recognised framework agreement with a choice of three purchasing options,
removing the need for them to go through a long and expensive individual tender process.”
David Howson, HEI National Agreement Manager commented “IKON’s independence and pricing were key
factors in them being chosen by the National Working Party as an approved supplier. HEI Institutions will
benefit from the choice of different brands and types of equipment they can now source through the contract
at very competitive rates. IKON’s flexibility was another major consideration, and the range of specialist
services they can provide will enable institutes to adopt a solution for producing and managing documents that
is tailored to them.”
